With the growing need for effective therapy for seniors, it is important for them to have more services and efficient therapies covered. There is a proposed bill where Medicare will cover services performed by an acupuncturist. In this site, I was able cast my own petition vote in about 2 minutes. I simply filled out the verification prompts. Please support the acupuncture field by casting your petition. 
Miami Acupuncture Therapy will be fielding a team for the Relay for Life (Miami Springs/ Virginia Gardens) that will take place on March 19, 2011. It is a cancer benefit event. Clinic owner Adrian Melero is also on the team recruitment committee for the event and encourages everyone to form/join a team and contribute. The first meeting for team captains will take place on Wednesday, Sept 1 at the Virginia Gardens Senior Center (inside city hall) 6498 NW 38 Ter, VG. Anyone interested in participating is invited. There will also a kickoff event party at the Miami Springs Country Club on Wednesday Sept 22, 2010.
When one thinks about acupuncture for back pain, people usually think only about needles. However, needles usually only make about 10% of the modality. While the needle has its role in reducing inflammation, and speeding the healing process, there is more. Usually, the practitioner will incorporate stretching and manual therapy to correct the problem. Also, cupping therapy also helps suck inflammation out the joint. And inflammation, more than anything else is what causes the most impingement and sciatica pain. And finally distal acupoint stimulation and electrical microcurrent can help move and eliminate inflammation and pain.
